My name is Kostan, and I represent the people of Triton on the Ruling Council.
Yes, I was the great-grandson of a controversial king and his long-time mistress. This, of course, is reason why I was not considered for rulership outside my city. Well, between that, and the fact I've decided not to marry. I've heard there are some who would place me on the throne. While the sentiment is flattering, I consider monarchy a relic. I'm not ignorant of the surface world, and my tours of Sub Diego have only further sparked my desire to see the Atlantean confederacy elect its leaders. Of course, the political climate being the way it is, I can't say it openly.
My loyalty is, and always has been, to the people of the Undersea world. This is why I back the fledgeling democracy movement. We've seen on the surface that people can be trusted to govern themselves, and that checks on the power of the monarch and nobles curb the too-frequrnt abuses of power. The current regent has seen this, and I believe him to be a wise man, even though his loyalty to the surface concerns me greatly.
